Looking for an angel

This little girl is counting on all of us to be angels. Along with two additional dogs at the shelter, Angel is heartworm positive. We're trying to raise $750 in a week - by Saturday September 3 - so we can return all of them to health. Once this adorable chihuahua-mix is rid of those nasty heartworms, she'll obviously find a loving home right away. Please donate to help Angel and her two shelter mates. That's what a No Kill Rockwall is all about. Angel is your Rockwall Adoptable Shelter Pet for the Week of August 29, 2011.

A happy-go-lucky, street-smart dog

This big guy is a gentle giant. Toby is about five years old, very mellow and exceedingly friendly. If you're a yellow lab fan, you know what to expect: a happy-go-lucky attitude combined with street-smarts. Toby is part of the "Summer of Love: 60s Power!" promotion sponsored by Rockwall Pets. That means his adoption fee has been reduced to only $25. Toby is your Rockwall Adoptable Shelter Pet for the week of August 22, 2011.

Rockwall City Council votes to saves lives

The Rockwall City Council voted unanimously Monday night to make Rockwall a No Kill community. It’s the culmination of a volunteer-driven campaign by Rockwall Pets, an independent nonprofit, to stop the killing of healthy and adoptable animals at the city shelter. Pegasus News has the story.
(Pictured: Maverick was killed earlier this year for minor - and very correctable - behavioral issues. The Rockwall City Council has mandated that dogs like Maverick no longer pay the ultimate price.)

A hybrid that saves you green

This young girl has it all! Laila is a true hybrid since she's part lab, part basenji and part everything else. She's cute, friendly and fun, plus she's slightly sassy, which makes her a true Texan. She also has 60s Power! That means her adoption fee has been reduced to $25. Laila is ready to charm her way into your heart. She's your Rockwall Adoptable Shelter Pet for the week of August 8, 2011.

We've got a groovy thing going!

We've got a groovy thing going during the month of August! It's the "Summer of Love: 60s Power!" at the Rockwall Animal Adoption Center.
All dogs and cats who have been at the Rockwall shelter for 60 days or longer have had their adoption fees reduced by $60. That means dogs are $25 and cats are free! Far out!
Just look for the peace sign on the kennel - or let your karma lead the way - to find which pets have 60s Power! And some of the pets will be at various off-site adoption events throughout the month.
We're going to have a gas while saving you some bread, dig?
Check it out at rockwallpets.com.

The best things come in twos

These sisters are living proof that the best things come in twos. Star and Sky are small hybrids - they're lab mixed with chihuahua and pug and whatever else - and they're well-behaved, docile and loving for their size and age. They're only about a year old, but these two little girls have already learned how to turn on the charm. Double your fun by meeting these two delightful sisters today! They're your Rockwall Adoptable Shelter Pets for the week of August 1, 2011.
